Visitors are invited to experience Fort Battleford National Historic Site.
Parks Canada staff will be on site to greet visitors and share information about what the site has to offer. In addition to exploring an authentic North West Mounted Police post firsthand, visitors can also learn about its history through Living History Day July 27.
According to a parks press release, this will be a hands-on experiences with historic trades, foods and demonstrations to bring the 1880s to life. From the ring of the blacksmith's hammer and the chatter of the telegraph to the aromas of a Victorian officer's kitchen, the day's events will engage all the senses and take you back in time, the release states.
A special event fee applies. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and participants can register at the visitor centre.
Fort Battleford will also have a variety of products that will enable visitors to experience the site at their own pace, including an audio tour, self-guided activities brochure and in July, a GPS based tour that will provide visitors with unique ways of visiting the site.
