If you thought construction season was over, think again.
Just in time for a significant snowfall, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has announced repair work will begin on the Battlefords Bridge.
According to the ministry, the bridge that carries eastbound Highway 16 and Northbound Highway 4 traffic will be reduced to one lane and speed reduced to 40 km/h while work is completed. Motorists can expect delays; especially at peak hours.
While work is underway, vehicles will be restricted to a maximum width of 4.3 metres. This includes most standard-sized vehicles. A detour for wide loads coming from the west has been set up on highways 21 and 26. Wide loads coming from the east can use the same route or Highway 14.
This work site will be active for up to three weeks, depending on weather and the progress of the repair crew.According to a press release, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks drivers for their patience.
