Nate Starycki, Grade 1, recently raised some money for two hospitals. After his family participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge, Nate and his family were inspired and moved to do another fundraiser. Nate's Fundraiser was called, "Shop For a Cause, Awareness of Childhood Illnesses." Since Nate's condition is not that common, and many families they have encountered along the way have rare conditions, the Starycki's thought it was only fitting to raise awareness for all childhood diseases.

Nate is followed by the Alberta Children's Hospital, but from Saskatchewan, so the family decided to split the amount raised between the two hospitals. They received help from Kristy Wandler and Paula Rawlyk. Kristy had a " Stella and Dot" Shop For a Cause Party. Paula had an Online Shop For a Cause Party with items from her Studio 72. All proceeds from the sales went to Nate's fundraiser.

The totals from both parties, along with numerous donations from family and friends made the grand total $3000. Nate did this on behalf of himself and his friend, Hayden, a girl that was born with the same condition as Nate, and spent months with him in the Alberta Children's Hospital. He was also raising the money in honour of his two friends who have sadly passed away. Nate thanks everyone for their support. He is a very caring young man, and the school community is very proud of Nate.
