Neighbours helped out when a large grass and brush fire started by an electrical spark from a tree falling on a power line threatened a farm yard Saturday. North Battleford Fire Department arrived, having been called at 7 p.m., and was able to stop the fire from spreading to the main house and three outbuildings.
NBFD reports neighbours used shovels to try to contain the fire prior to their two vehicles and four personnel arriving to the site 11 miles east of North Battleford on Highway 378 and a further one and a half miles north in the RM of North Battleford.
No one was home at the time of the fire and one small shed was consumed. There were no injuries.
NBFD was on the scene for two hours. WPD Ambulance, RCMP and SaskPower were also on the scene. SaskPower disconnected the power line.
