NORTH — Canada Post has issued a red delivery service alert due to wildfires and an evacuation order affecting mail and parcel delivery in Cole Bay and Canoe Narrows.
"Canada Post is implementing contingency measures, assessing the situation and exploring options to best serve residents and keep them connected," the Crown corporation said in a statement.
A red alert means post offices in the affected communities are closed, and all incoming mail is being securely held off-site until further notice.
"Delivery service alerts will be posted and updated on our Delivery Service Alerts webpage and on our @canadaposthelps X account," the statement said. "Updates on mail availability, delivery and postal services will also be shared on our Closures and Service Interruptions webpage."
Customers with questions about mail delivery can contact Canada Post’s customer service team online at canadapost.ca/support or by phone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).
Canada Post operates more than 60 post offices in northern Saskatchewan, many of which serve remote communities. Disruptions due to wildfires and extreme weather are becoming increasingly common during summer months according to Canada Post.
