DENARE BEACH – The out-of-control wildfire has destroyed structures in Denare Beach, according to the Village of Denare Beach.
The evacuation order remains in effect for the northern village.
“Due to the aggressiveness of the fire, we can confirm structure loss,” said the village on social media on June 3.
They confirm that 9th Ave south to the reserve have been devastated by fire. The fire hall, administration building and Denareplex are still standing. There’s no further confirmation on any residential or infrastructure losses at this time, said the village.
“We understand not receiving further information is frustrating, but please understand we feel as shocked, helpless as you all right now and are trying to navigate the situation as best we can remotely,” said the village.
They also confirmed that their firefighters in Creighton are all accounted for and safe.
Cyndi from Wild North Lifestyle of Denare Beach posted on Tuesday night that “half of Denare Beach lost their homes.”
More than 9,000 people have been forced to evacuate out-of-control wildfires in Saskatchewan. On June 3, Premier Scott Moe said that number could reach 15,000 in the coming days.
