PRINCE ALBERT — As Manitoba grapples with wildfires that have forced more than 17,000 people from their homes, the premier of Saskatchewan said Tuesday the situation is becoming just as dire in his province.

While the city isn’t leading evacuation coordination, it has opened recreational facilities and public services to help evacuees settle in. Officials are also collaborating with the SPSA to share updates and connect displaced residents with local resources.

The Montreal Lake and Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nations are providing shelter and support for evacuees from Weyakwin, Timber Bay and Molanosa.

Carlyle and Redvers are among the Saskatchewan communities helping combat the wildfires in northern Saskatchewan.

He says he plans to meet up later in the day with his children, who left La Ronge on Monday and are now safe in Saskatoon.

The team is transporting an engine truck, a command unit, and an all-terrain side-by-side from the NBFD fleet to be used during this deployment.

The wind blew fire away from Flin Flon and Creighton Sunday night and early Monday, but Denare Beach did not have the same luck. The Wolf fire was blown toward the village, potentially putting it in danger.
