It’ll be a quiet week on the ice for each of the 12 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League clubs next week, but for a number of players, there will be plenty of hockey to be played.

The SJHL announced their rosters for the upcoming SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina Jan. 15-16, with 12 members of the Nipawin Hawks and the Melfort Mustangs selected.

The Hawks will send seven players, plus head coach Doug Johnson, to the showcase, marking the third most representatives from one team.

The eight representatives will be spread out across three teams, with Johnson serving as head coach of Team Kunitz, Carter Doerksen, Brett Harasymuk, Michael Grant and Josh McDougall playing for Team Mitchell, and Jake Anthony, Jake Tremblay and Jordan Simoneau selected to play for Team Schwartz.

The Mustangs meanwhile, will send five players to the showcase, tied for the seventh most in the league.

Justin Ball and Carson Albrecht will be paired together once again as they have been selected to play for Team Kunitz, while Evan Plotnik, Kayle Tosh and Reed Gunville will be suiting up for Team Mitchell.

The SJHL/MJHL Showcase features the 60 best college eligible players as chosen by the coaches, with two teams featuring the top 1997-98 born players and one team featuring the top 1999-2000 born players.
