The Nipawin Hawks’ offense keeps on rolling.

One game after scoring nine goals in a 9-2 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves, the Hawks’ offense did one better in a 10-1 route of the Weyburn Red Wings in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action from Nipawin.

The Nov. 28 game got off to an excellent start for the Hawks as they led 3-0 less than five minutes in.

Brandan Arnold, Chad McCartney and Michael Grant all found the back of the net for the Hawks in the period as they took the 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Hawks’ offense came out firing again in the second and scored two more goals in the first five minutes as Arnold and Brett Harasymuk scored their 17th and eighth goals respectively to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead.

After the Red Wings finally got on the board at the 8:22 mark, the Hawks responded to regain their five goal edge as Harasymuk scored his second of the night.

Harasymuk would add his third goal of the evening at 4:04 of the third period, giving the Hawks their sixth goal in the first five minutes of each period.

Logan Casavant, Jake Tremblay and Austin Mikesch all added goals later in the third period as they Hawks won their sixth game in a row.

Special teams were particularly special for the Hawks on the evening as they scored on four of five power play chances, while they killed off all four power plays against.

Declan Hobbs, making his first start in 11 days, was solid when called upon for the Hawks, turning aside 23 of the 24 shots he faced for his career high tenth win of the season as the Hawks outshot the Red Wings 46-24.

The Hawks will look to push their season high winning streak to seven games when they travel to Melfort on Dec. 1 for a showdown with their rivals, the Melfort Mustangs.

The game is particularly important for the Hawks in the standings, as a win would put the Hawks just one point behind the Mustangs for first in the Sherwood Division, with the Hawks holding two games in hand.
