Head-on collision kills one

A 61-year-old man is dead following a head-on collision between a car and a semi-trailer unit on Hwy. 5 east of Humboldt on July 20. A car was traveling westbound on Hwy.

The impact of the crash pushed the semi-trailer unit, which was not carrying a load, into the ditch.


A 61-year-old man is dead following a head-on collision between a car and a semi-trailer unit on Hwy. 5 east of Humboldt on July 20.
A car was traveling westbound on Hwy. 5 when, about two kilometres east of Muenster, it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound semi-trailer unit.
The semi trailer was run off the road after impact.
A 61-year-old male was the lone occupant and driver of the car and was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-trailer unit was not physically injured in the collision.
Weather conditions were overcast at the time and road conditions were good.
Emergency services from Humboldt were called to the scene and remained for four hours while the investigation into the crash continued. The highway was closed in both directions from 2 p.m. until after 6 p.m.
The RCMP investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
