Chris and Marianne Heeroma travelled to the Canadian Sheep Classic in Barriere, B.C. at the end of June. There, in the midst of a heat wave, they competed with the best from all over Canada.

Two of their Hampshire yearling ewes, a young Dorset ewe, a yearling Dorset ram and two junior Dorset ram lambs were all in the top four in large classes of their respective breeds. They also placed second with their Hampshire flock (four animals - a ram and three females), competing against breeders from across Canada.

Heeroma Sheep Farm also showed in the sheep show at Colonial Days. There they won grand champion prospect breeding ewe and purebred ram with their Dorset entries and reserve in both classes with their Hamps. They didn't enter a market lamb, but the winner was a lamb bought from another person and totally Heeroma breeding.

Hayo and Marianne spent an enjoyable day in Vermilion, Alta. team judging two 4-H sheep shows. They said it was a very interesting experience to observe from the other side of the fence, judging rather than showing. They met many enthusiastic young people who did a fine job and made their job very difficult, they said.
