The intersection of Highways 35 and 335 south of Nipawin is closed to traffic today (April 19) from approximately 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow for additional collision scene testing and analysis.

It is to allow Saskatchewan RCMP to continue to investigate the collision involving the Humboldt Broncos team bus on April 6, according to an RCMP news release issued Thursday morning.

All roads leading to the intersection will be barricaded with detours and there will be no access to the memorial site at this time. In a news release, police are urging drivers to slow down when approaching barricades and detours and to follow all instructions to ensure the safety of personnel. Roads are expected to re-open this evening.

According to the RCMP, investigators will position vehicles similar to those involved in the collision on the scene to allow reconstructionists to take measurements and analyze sight lines.

There will be 12 RCMP Collision Reconstruction specialists on scene today and they will be assisted by eight additional RCMP members who will handle traffic control.

The RCMP is planning a further media update on the investigation at 11 am this morning.
