Battlefords RCMP are reporting a homicide at a local hotel in the early hours of Monday.
RCMP say they responded to a report of a stabbing at the downtown Travelodge at just after 4 a.m. Responding officers found a 35-year-old man in the lobby with injuries judged to be not life threatening. He remains in Battlefords Union Hospital.
Police say a 20-year-old was located in a hotel room suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead after being transported to BUH.
The 20-year-old's name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
According to the RCMP, the investigation is in preliminary stages and more information will be released as it becomes available.
Assisting Battlefords detachment with the investigation are the North Battleford Police Dog Services, Battleford General Investigation Section, Major Crimes Unit - North and Forensic Identification Services.
Officers were still on the scene as commuters made their way to work Monday morning.
