UNITY RCMP BARRACKS
The Unity RCMP continue to investigate the fatal rollover that claimed the life of a British Columbia man.

UNITY — On Aug. 23, at approximately 3 p.m., Unity RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover near the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 675, west of Unity.

The driver of the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as an adult male from British Columbia. His family has been notified.

Prior to the rollover, Unity RCMP received several reports about the vehicle, including that it was driving erratically. Officers attempted traffic stops, but the vehicle did not stop and continued on at a high rate of speed. When officers responded to the rollover, they provided first aid to the male until EMS arrived.

Because of the interaction with police prior to the rollover, Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of the male’s death. SIRT determined the incident was not within its mandate.

Unity RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Saskatchewan RCMP is disclosing the police interaction as part of their ongoing commitment to transparency.
