HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Ministerial Association is opening up their Helping Hands Fund to local non-profits that require financial assistance to keep going.
The Helping Hands Fund is traditionally used to financially help people in the community.
The fund is made up of offerings received by participating Humboldt churches during the week of prayer for Christian unity in January, as well as individual donations.
Cliff Magnus, president of the ministerial, said that with the pandemic, non-profit organizations that rely on personal donations are placed in a difficult situation as community members find themselves unable to donate.
“There are going to be more people who need to use these services than in the past,” Magnus said.
“We just made a decision that we would offer our Helping Hands Fund to the community, to not just help individuals as we know we do, but now to help organizations that may be feeling the crunch over these next weeks and months.”
The amount available in the fund is not being disclosed.
Each non-profit will be looked at by case-by-case basis, similarly to individual people. The fund continues to be available for individual members of the community.
To apply for the fund, Magnus said they can contact him through St. John's Lutheran Church at 306-682-2590.
“We want to show people that the churches of Humboldt are with them. We’re part of the community and we want to help however we can – especially in this time of crisis. We want to show God’s love to people who are in need and need it.”
