This was the scene last Wednesday afternoon at Gold Eagle Casino at an event celebrating Indigenous youth in the community. The event was organized by Bernadette Gopher and was co-sponsored by the casino, as a day to honour Indigenous youth and, in particular, honour the young Sakicawasihk Sr. and Jr. Princesses and Little Warrior selected at Gold Eagle Casino’s powwow this past fall. Gopher  presented gifts to the Sakicawasihk royalty representing the Battlefords: the Senior Sakicawasihk Princess Jonika Graham, Junior Princess Lucy Bull-Baptiste, and Little Warrior Isaiah Johnson. Cheyenne Fineday, current FSIN youth rep, was one of the young ambassadors who spoke at the event. Photos by John Cairns
