Due to the major fire at the Bargain Shop at the corner of 12th Avenue and 101st Street, the North Battleford International Street Performer Festival has been forced to move their location a block north.

The show will go on as scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but instead of using the 12th Avenue and 101st Street intersection, they will be located at the 13th Avenue 101st Street location.

A statement was issued by the planning committee for the festival, who said they had been in consultation with the City of North Battleford and fire and emergency services personnel on the situation.

“It has been determined that the 12th Avenue and 101st Street area should not be used as the building is not structurally sound at this time,” the statement read. “We will be moving the festival north by one block. The performance pitches for this year will be in front of City Hall and in front of the library park.”

The food vendors and artisans will also be located on 13th Avenue. Organizers emphasize the public’s safety was the most important factor in the decision to move the festival for 2015.

“Our deepest sympathies for the owners and employees of the Bargain Shop. We are happy that no one was injured in this devastating fire,” they added.
