RCMP have found no evidence of harassing or criminal behaviour in an investigation into circumstances preceding the suicide of a local teen Sept. 9, 2013.

An investigation into allegations that the deceased had been a victim of bullying began with information provided by the deceased's mother Sept. 26, 2013.

RCMP say a full forensic examination of the deceased's cell phone and personal computer was made. Investigators reviewed in excess of 16,000 individual text messages, several hundred images and Facebook messages and approximately 30 videos.

No evidence of any harassing or other related criminal behaviour was uncovered, says a press release issued Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The release also says members from the North Battleford detachment recently met with the deceased's parents and advised them of the status and findings of this investigation.

The investigation followed an incident called in at 3:18 a.m. Sept. 9, 2013 which saw North Battleford RCMP respond to a report of a sudden death in a residence. When members arrived at the residence they found a deceased 15-year-old male. Investigators determined at that time the death was not suspicious or criminal in nature and that the deceased did not die from natural causes.

Prior to the incident, police had received no complaints from the deceased, his family or any other person relating to harassment or other criminal behaviour.
