A judge is expected to make a decision Friday on whether or not a Meadow Lake man facing weapons and robbery charges will get out on bail.
The Saskatchewan Emergency Response Team arrested Cory Bouvier, 30, in April after Meadow Lake RCMP received reports of threats with the use of firearms. Police arrested Bouvier, along with Monica Bouvier, 24, at a home on the 200 block of 2ndStreet West. She is charged with weapons offences, robbery, mischief and obstruction of a peace officer. She was released on bail in April.
At the time of Cory Bouvier’s arrest, the Emergency Response Team was already in Meadow Lake to deal with a call about threats with the use of a firearm at another house on the 500 block of 6 Avenue West. At that house police arrested Cassidy Dillon Regan, 29. He was charged with firearms-related offences, uttering threats and breach of probation. He was released on bail after a hearing on July 6.
A scheduled July 16 trial in Meadow Lake Provincial Court for Cory Bouvier was derailed after witnesses didn’t show up to testify. One witness was a key witness. The defence opposed the adjournment but the judge granted the crown’s request to give him time to round up the witnesses. Crown prosecutor Andrew Clements had also asked the court to issue a warrant for one witness who didn’t show for the trial.
Bouvier also has charges out of Prince Albert that are being dealt with in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
Regan appears in court next on Sept. 8. Monica Bouvier appears again on Sept. 6.
In May Cory Bouvier pleaded not guilty. He appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Aug. 4 and appears again on Aug. 7 for the judge’s decision on whether he will be released on bail or be remanded in custody until his trial.
