Supporters of Colten Boushie, shooting victim, were at the Battleford courthouse Tuesday, including Boushie’s uncle, Alvin Baptiste, who spoke with reporters during the lunch break.
Baptiste said that he was disappointed there were no visible First Nations individuals on the jury.
He also said it was hard to hear the evidence today.
Also seen on the steps was the deceased’s mother, Debbie Baptiste.
Tuesday was the first day of testimony on the second-degree murder trial of Gerald Stanley of the Biggar area.
On Monday, during trial selection held at the Alex Dillabough Centre, Colten Boushie’s cousin Jade Tootoosis told the media, “It was very difficult to sit there today and watch every single Indigenous person be challenged by the defence.”
She said she was already feeling overwhelmed.
“A lot of my family didn’t come today because they already felt that a decision had been made.”
