What really happened to Lana Lang? The whereabouts of Clark Kent's (aka Superman's) high school sweetheart has been the subject of intense speculation but the hard-working investigative reporters at the Battlefords Regional Optimist and the Unity-Wilkie Press-Herald have tracked her down!

With her red locks dyed a non-descript brown/grey, she's been masquerading as the Unity salt plant manager's better half, but was unable to keep herself away from the world of journalism. The maternity leave of Press-Herald manager Tammi Bullerwell let her return to a career that almost made her as happy as being Clark's main squeeze.

Tammi's return to the reins at the Press-Herald left Lana continuing to submit stories and photographs for the enjoyment of loyal readers, and doing the odd bit of work for the News-Optimist/Regional Optimist, but, with some extra time on her hands, her thoughts returned to the conundrum of her teenage years. Clark Kent - Superman? Yes or no? How to find out? Indeed, how to re-establish contact with either or both of them?

Along came Easter Seals and their Drop Zone campaign. The perfect opportunity! Surely, if Lana descends a 230-foot building, held only by one thin rope, Clark - wherever he is - will sit up and pay attention! Surely, if Lana becomes a SuperHero herself, sending a disabled child to camp for a week of fun, games and activities, Superman will care.

Each Drop Zone participant has to show up with $1,500, enough money to pay for a week of camp for one child, a week of adventure and memories for kids who sometimes miss out on the fun other kids take for granted.

You can become a part of this story by donating your spare change at any of the Press-Herald, Sifto or Battlefords Publishing offices to help Lana send a kid (or two) to Camp Easter Seal. Donations can also be made online through a link on Helena Long's Facebook page or at thedropzone.ca and then clicking through to the Saskatoon location, and "Sponsor a Hero" and filling in the name Helena Long. Online donations go directly to Easter Seals and receipts will be issued.

If you have the opportunity to be in Saskatoon Aug. 27, you can watch Lana and other superheroes descend the Carleton Tower in downtown Saskatoon.
