Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty to attend historic treaty anniversary

Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will attend the celebrations commemorating the 130th anniversary of the Treaty 6 adhesion on Aug. 28 at Molanosa (Kiskahikanisihk) at the north end of Montreal Lake, where the adhesion was signed in 1889.

Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will attend the celebrations commemorating the 130th anniversary of the Treaty 6 adhesion on Aug. 28 at Molanosa (Kiskahikanisihk) at the north end of Montreal Lake, where the adhesion was signed in 1889.

“As a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, and now as Her Majesty’s representative in Saskatchewan, I am looking forward to taking part in this historic commemoration,” said His Honour the Honourable Russ Mirasty. “Treaties enabled newcomers and First Nations people to live in peaceful    co-existence. As the Crown’s representative in Saskatchewan, I will honour the sacred relationship between the Crown and Indigenous Peoples.”

The event is organized by the Treaty 6 Adhesion Commemoration Project Committee. Their Honours will take part in the following activities:

8:00 am Pipe Ceremony

10:15 am Grand Entry

11:30 am Plaque Unveiling

1:15 pm Program

3:00 pm Presentations to Dignitaries
