The Honourable Don Morgan, Minister of Education, has proclaimed Oct. 20 to 26 as Education Week 2013.
This year's theme is Supporting and Celebrating Success.
Living Sky School Division schools are celebrating Education Week through a variety of activities. Some of those activities are listed below.
St. Vital Catholic School in Battleford is having a career spirit day, hosting a reading competition and participating in the month-long Stop-Drop and Read program. Education Week is also the week that St. Vital students will participate in Student Led Conferences to showcase student learning and success.
Battleford Central School will participate in a number of activities to celebrate success at BCS. They will include events such as a Bus Driver Appreciation Day, TEDTalk presentations, the annual Mug and Muffin on Thursday as well as an inflatable obstacle course to finish off the week.
Unity Public School will be holding a Buddy Reading event and a Family Reading Event. Thursday will be dress as your favourite subject day and Friday there will be a video presentation of student work as well as the kick-off of the yearlong UPS Bear's Success Initiative.
Kerrobert Composite School was scheduled to start Education Week with a visit from author Sheena Koops. On Tuesday they were to host an Open House with classroom visits, SLC bake sale, and recent graduate Stephanie Binding was to share her new book Autumn Recovery. The week will also see a volleyball match between the Rebels Football Team and the Lady Rebels Volleyball Team. The school will also host question and answer stations for parents.
Education week provides an opportunity to celebrate student success and recognize the dedication and commitment of education professionals across the province.
