Man charged after Yellow Quill stabbing

YELLOW QUILL—Greenwater RCMP arrested a 25-year-old Yellow Quill First Nation man in connection to a stabbing.

The RCMP were called to the scene March 25, where they found a 16-year-old victim. He was transported to hospital in Kelvington, then on to Saskatoon with what were described as severe injuries.

After an investigation, the Greenwater RCMP executed a search warrant at a Yellow Quill home March 31 with the assistance of the Wadena RCMP, Hudson Bay RCMP and Tisdale RCMP Forensic Identification. Corey Mark Peequaquat was arrested there without incident. 

Peequaquat is charged with aggravated assault, forcible confinement, unlawfully causing bodily harm, uttering threats against a person, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with probation orders. He appeared in Rose Valley Provincial Court on April 4.

The Greenwater RCMP continues their investigation with the assistance of Tisdale RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
