Man dies in crash

One man is dead and another is facing serious charges after a fatal crash near Lloydminster Sunday. Two vehicles collided on Highway 17 two kilometres north of Lloydminster just before midnight, according to RCMP.

One man is dead and another is facing serious charges after a fatal crash near Lloydminster Sunday.

Two vehicles collided on Highway 17 two kilometres north of Lloydminster just before midnight, according to RCMP. Ambulance crews pronounced a 22-year-old driver of a pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck was transported to Lloydminster Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of a northbound vehicle, which police say crossed into the oncoming lane, was also transported to Lloydminster Hospital with minor injuries. The drive has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and several provincial driving offences

Lloydminster rural and Maistone RCMP responded to the crash. An RCMP collision re-constructionist has attended the scene and assisted with this investigation. Names of those involved will not be released pending next of kin notification and formal charges. Any witnesses to this incident who have not already spoken to police, are urged to contact the Maidstone/ Lloydminster RCMP.
