A Prince Albert man is facing multiple charges after a crash in a construction zone Thursday, on Highway 40, three kilometres south of Parkside.
Shellbrook RCMP say Kenneth Swindler, 39, was arrested at the scene of the crash and has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of more than 80 mg of alcohol causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and obstruction ofa peace officer.
Swindler is also charged under the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act for operating an unregistered vehicle.
The RCMP investigation revealed three vehicles were involved in the construction zone crash. Three vehicles were stopped on the highway at about 5:40 p.m., waiting for a pilot vehicle to escort them through the construction area. Police say a light green mini-van collided with the vehicles. The first vehicle to be struck by the van was a grey pick-up truck which then struck two other vehicles that were also stationary.
Swindler was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with operating an unregistered vehicle.
He was released on an undertaking to attend court on Tuesday, July 2 at Shellbrook Provincial Court. He was taken by EMS to hospital.
The operator of the truck, an adult male,was taken to hospital in Prince Albert and was held overnight.
