A man is facing drug charges in connection with a fire at a rental property in Humboldt early this year.
Following a fire at a residence on the 1000 block of Main St. Humboldt on February 4, the Humboldt RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police located a marijuana grow operation inside the residence, stated Const. David Charabin of the Humboldt RCMP.
A 33-year-old man from Humboldt has since been arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and production of a controlled substance.
He will make his first court appearance on these charges in Humboldt Provincial Court on April 16. His name cannot be released until that time.
Fire crews were called to the residence on the 1000 block of Main St. around 11:30 p.m. on February 4 by a neighbour who had noticed flames outside the home. Firefighters were on scene for three hours fighting the fire that was believed to have started due to a short in an overloaded electrical circuit between the first and second storeys of the home.
