A man charged in connection to a shooting in Meadow Lake remains in custody.
Lennex Merasty-Morin, 31, made another court appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court March 30. He is charged with 13 firearms-related offences after two men were allegedly shot while they were driving near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 5th Street West on Nov. 23, 2019. The 32-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered a single gunshot wound to his back and the 50-year-old passenger was also injured.
Meadow Lake RCMP say they went to the hospital to get information from the victims who said the suspects fled in a white four-door car. Shortly after, police saw a white four-door Chevy leave Meadow Lake on a rural road and tried to stop the car but the driver sped away. Police pursued the vehicle and the driver eventually lost control and crashed into a bush on Range Road 610.
Police arrested four people in the vehicle. Richard Angus, 38, Corey Bouvier, 30, Joshua Matheson, 26, and Charley Seright, 25. They were charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Police didn’t find any weapons in the vehicle and issued a warrant for the arrest of Lennex Merasty-Morin. He was arrested January 2020.
Merasty-Morin is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on April 20 for a show cause hearing to determine if he will be granted bail.
