The game got off to a solid start for the Mustangs as Loch Morrison scored his 12th goal of the season to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead just 7:37 into the game.

The late was short-lived however, as the Red Wings responded with their first of the game less than three minutes later sending the game into the second period tied at 1.

The second period opened up for both teams as they combined for four goals.

The Red Wings opened the second period scoring as they took a 2-1 lead just 4:41 into the period.

The Red Wings held the lead for more than six minutes before the Mustangs took over as Justin Ball scored his 12th of the year, and Carson Albrecht added his ninth of the year less than three minutes later giving the Mustangs a 3-2 lead.

The Red Wings answered back with less than two minutes remaining in the period, sending the game into the third period tied at 3.
