The Battlefords RCMP responded to 20 occurrences/calls for service between 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20 and 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21.
Monday
10:48 a.m. - Members called out to a possible nature gas leak on 800 block of 107th Street. Turned out to be false. Numerous areas of the city reported noticeable odour of natural gas. SaskEnergy conducted a thorough examination, no leaks were located. At this time no information on the cause of the odour.
3:18 p.m. - Hit and run near corner of 95th and 15th Avenue. Two-vehicle collision, driver of a grey car left scene. Witnessed by off duty RCMP member who followed suspect for several blocks. When suspect stopped and parked vehicle, he was detained by the off duty member and turned over to responding members who placed him under arrest. A 17-year-old youth is facing charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving without a valid license.
4:00 p.m. - Report of theft of jewelry on 110th Street.
6:42 p.m. - Moose running wild on 9th Avenue. Members able to locate moose and herd it across Territorial Drive safely and back out of the city.
6:48 p.m. - Theft of gas from Highway 16 bypass. Suspect driving a red SUV with Alberta plates, suspect driver described as being in his 30s or 40s, thin and bald.
10:18 p.m. - 911 call of a group of people arguing/fighting in area of 108th Street and 10th Avenue. A 13-year-old female arrested for being drunk in public and assaulting a police officer. Charges still pending. A 16-year-old female also arrested on scene, facing two counts of failing to comply with probation.
11:30 p.m. - 911 call to a residence on 106th Street reporting a man had broken into a basement window and was now fighting with occupants of the home. Found to be a false complaint, no break-in had occurred.
11:51 p.m. - Intoxicated and unwanted person at a residence on 100th Street. Subject left area when police called.
Tuesday
4:48 a.m. - Vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Railway Avenue East. Pedestrian taken to hospital for treatment. No updates at this time, injuries not believed to be life threatening.
