Violetta Coe saw numbers multiply in front of her eyes when she checked her WESTERN MAX ticket. The Creighton resident and her husband, Allan, won $1 million on April 19.
“I checked my ticket on the mobile app,” she said. “At first, I thought it said $1,000; then I thought it said $10,000.”
“I called my son over to look at the number for me,” she continued. “He paused a minute, sat down, and said, ‘Mom, you won a million dollars!’ We couldn’t believe it.”
Shortly after discovering the win, Violetta asked her son to call Allan to tell him the news.
“He asked me if I was sitting down,” recalled Allan. “He told me what we won, and all I could think of to say was, ‘Bull--!’”
The happy winners said they have a couple of ideas for their winnings, but they’re in no rush to spend their windfall. For now, they’re happy just enjoying the experience of the win.
“When Al got home, he looked at me and said, ‘I told you our ship would come in,’” said Violetta. “He was right – our ship has come in!”
The Coes purchased their winning WESTERN MAX ticket at Creighton Super Stop, located at 402 Main Street in Creighton. Their winning quick pick numbers were 1, 2, 3, 5, 23, 28 and 47 – matching one of the seven sets of numbers drawn for prizes of $1 million.
