Cattle, missing since 2008, have been seized from a pasture in the RM of Glenside and 49-year-old Joann Vayro of Sonningdale has been charged with five counts fraudulently keeping cattle found astray contrary to the Criminal Code.

Vayro will make her first court appearance in Biggar Nov. 5.

Police say an investigation launched Sept. 11 revealed there were allegedly stolen branded cattle grazing amongst a herd in the RM of Glenside. Brand inspection confirmed the information and a search warrant was executed Sept. 18.

Police seized five cow/calf pairs worth a total estimated value of between $13,000 and $15,000. It is estimated the offspring produced from the stolen cattle over the six-year period they were missing is valued at approximately $17,500.

Police say the animals were in good condition and are presently being corralled and monitored by Livestock Services of Saskatchewan.
