News that the City of North Battleford had climbed the MoneySense rankings for "Best Places to Live" in Canada has pleased Mayor Ian Hamilton.
Hamilton noted at Monday's municipal services meeting the City had climbed from 150th a year ago to 88th in 2014's rankings.
He called the showing a "huge jump".
But while he and other members of council were pleased with the improvement in the Money Sense survey, the mayor acknowledged there is still work to do.
"Is 88 out of 201 communities a good ranking? It's not high enough yet," said Hamilton.
"We'll continue to work towards making improvements so that every year we show better than the previous year."
Among the areas that stood out as positives for Hamilton were high rankings for the city in the property tax numbers and in the area of health care, reflecting North Battleford as "the hub of health care" in the region, he said.
Councillor Greg Lightfoot also noted a big improvement in the numbers for average income that boosted the numbers as well.
Compared to other cities in the province, North Battleford ranked fifth, behind Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Lloydminster. Among small cities, North Battleford was third in the province, behind Moose Jaw and Lloydminster.
