Two individuals charged with a Jan. 6 robbery on the Mosquito First Nation have been remanded to their next court appearance on Jan. 25.

Both 23-year-old Marty Moccasin and 23-year-old Jamieson Wahobin, who first appeared in court Monday, were back in the courtroom Tuesday morning for a scheduled bail hearing.

Instead of that hearing going ahead, both have been remanded by consent and they are scheduled to return to court Jan. 25. Moccasin is due to appear by CCTV; Wahobin is set for 9:30 a.m. to appear in person. Police say the matter remains under investigation.

Moccasin faces numerous charges, including robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm X 2, careless use of a firearm, and wearing a disguise while committing an offence.

Wahobin, who was arrested on the evening of Jan. 6 in Battleford, also faces a charge of robbery with a firearm. Both made their first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 8.

According to RCMP, police were notified shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday of a reported robbery on Mosquito First Nation.

A suspect armed with a firearm was reported to have stolen a vehicle. Police say at least one round was fired by the suspect into the ground during the incident, though no persons were injured.

The vehicle was located on 33rd Street in Battleford a short time later. Police also recovered two firearms from the vehicle.
