Mothers honoured at champagne event

Although many mothers are appreciated daily, there is one day in May set aside for official recognition. One hundred individuals enjoyed a Mother's Day champagne brunch held at the Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre May 12.

Although many mothers are appreciated daily, there is one day in May set aside for official recognition. One hundred individuals enjoyed a Mother's Day champagne brunch held at the Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre May 12.

Members of the community had the opportunity to enjoy deliciously prepared food and fellowship, while each woman was presented with a fresh, long stemmed, white carnation upon admission.

Guests enjoyed brunch items such as French toast, hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, cinnamon buns and a selection of beverages including champagne.

A variety of potted plants was used to decorate the centre and were available for purchase, compliments of Beans Greens Greenhouse.

Nici Warnock, Jean Pickrell and Pat Ciona initiated the event that realized proceeds of over $500, which was donated to the Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre. Organizers were appreciative of the many food donations that assisted in the realized profit as well as the many volunteers who assisted with the many tasks involved in making the event a success. It was a welcome opportunity for many individuals to honour their mothers.

A door prize, of a potted floral arrangement consisting of white and purple petunias, was won by Zoie Sherstobetoff.
