HUMBOLDT — Crown prosecution has recommended Timothy Patrick Lloyd be subject to alternative measures, after being charged with spray painting white supremacist slogans and symbology on Humboldt businesses.

The vandalism occurred on Sept. 2 on businesses and a moving truck between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue.

The graffiti included the swastika and the symbol used by the Schutzstaffel, as well as the words, “It’s okay 2 be white,” and “SSkinheadss.”

In court on Dec. 7, when asked his plans moving forward, the 22-year-old Muenster man told Judge Martinez that he intended to plead guilty.

“I’d be happy to do that, but before you plead guilty I would like you to speak to the prosecutor so you understand two things,” Judge Martinez said. “One, what are the facts she is going to tell the court when you plead guilty, and two, what she is going to propose as a possible sentence – just so you understand.”

The case was adjourned until Dec. 14, at which point Crown prosecution said that he was fully cooperative with doing alternative measures.

In alternative measures, the accused is given the opportunity to accept responsibility for the crime and make amends to the community.

“He was wanting to co-operate and participate, so in the event that he has completed sooner than there’s no problem,” prosecution said. “I can bring it forward – but for the time being we can adjourn it for March 15.”

Lloyd refused to comment.
