Multipurpose complex design awarded to Regina company

Humboldt city council has authorized administration to award the design of the multipurpose complex to P3Architecture for $97,925.

Humboldt city council has authorized administration to award the design of the multipurpose complex to P3Architecture for $97,925.

The company, which is based out of Regina, will draw up a concept for council that will illustrate how it will work with the Uniplex, how it will be laid out, what size it will be, what will go in it, and how it will be utilized. It will also give administration an idea of capital and operating costs.

“We’ve only just had the startup meeting, so we don’t have any idea of a timeline yet,” said Darrell Lessmeister, director of community & leisure services. “We’ll be doing a consultation process with the public and stakeholders that have an interest … we want to make sure we go through the consultation process so everyone has an opportunity to make comments.”

Administration will be looking at holding the consultation process at some point in the fall. They’ll be looking at what activities will be happening between now and then so as to get the best feedback from the public. They’re expecting everything, including the concept drawing, to be done by the end of November.

“After we get this done, the concept drawing will be given back to council, council will determine when to start, and then they’ll direct administration when and how they want to start,” Lessmeister saidl.

Regular updates on the process will be forthcoming.
