An individual charged with second-degree murder in connection to an incident on Moosomin First Nation has been released on his own recognizance.

Taryn Cote, 19, appeared in Queen's Bench Court in Battleford Thursday afternoon. Both he and co-accused Troy Swiftwolfe are charged in the incident that took place on the reserve Feb. 2.

Both the Crown and defence agreed to Cote's release, which comes with several conditions including keep-the-peace provisions, a 10 p.m to 7 a.m. curfew, a no alcohol or drugs order, firearms prohibitions and an extensive no contact order.

A publication ban on the evidence was also issued in the case.

Cote's next court appearance will be in provincial court in North Battleford April 15.
