More prestigious recognition has come to the local business Gold Eagle Lodge.

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada announced the hotel was a finalist for a Canadian Tourism Awards.

Gold Eagle Lodge is up in the category of Air Canada Business of the Year, along with Eagle Wing Tours Ltd. and Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre. Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Gatineau on Nov. 29.

The North Battleford-based hotel has won a number of awards since opening in 2006. Those include a number of Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence as well as a past nomination for a Canadian Tourism Award.

In a statement, Tourism Saskatchewan CEO Mary Taylor-Ash cited the key role that professional development of the staff played in the hotel’s success.

“Gold Eagle Lodge is one of the stars of our industry, said its CEO Mary Taylor-Ash, “for its leadership in areas of human resources and employee professional development, for its investments in its people and in property enhancements, and for its commitment to exceptional guest experiences.”
