Long time Batttlefords representative and incumbent MLA for the Battlefords, isn't the only NDP candidate having a rough night at the polls.

Ninety minutes after the polls closed the Sask. Party has been declared elected in 44 seats and leading in five. The NDP are elected in only five and leading in four. Other NDP incumbents unseated include Kevin Yates in Regina Dewdney who was unseated by Sask. Party Candidate Gene Makowsky.

NDP Leader Dwain Lingenfelter is also suffering from the tide of Sask. Party support. He is currently losing to the Sask Party's Russ Marchuk in the Regina Douglas Park constituency. Marchuk has 3667 votes to Lingenfelter's 2951. Green Party leader Victor Lau has 578 votes. A total of 56 of 58 polls have been counted.
