It has been confirmed that the New Democrats meeting in North Battleford Sept. 7 will be a joint provincial and federal nomination meeting.
The party’s Facebook page states that the meeting will be held Sept. 7 at the Western Development Museum and will coincide with provincial council, which is also happening that day. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include the nomination of candidates for the Battlefords provincial electoral district as well as the Battlefords-Lloydminster federal constituency. Provincial NDP leader Ryan Meili is expected to be in attendance.
As of Friday, Amber Stewart was still the only declared candidate for the provincial nomination. There was no word yet on potential nomination candidates for the federal nomination. A federal election is expected to be called within the next several days.
