The Town of Battleford has found its new chief administrative officer.

Filling the role is Ash Alam, who comes to the Town from Buffalo Narrows where he had served as chief administrative officer.

According to a profile of Alam found at the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association’s website, he grew up in New York City and has a BBA from Arizona State University and MBA from University of Nevada. He also completed a NACLAA level II (Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration) from the University of Alberta and an Executive Certification in Local Government from Dalhousie University.

Alam’s first day on the job is next Tuesday, Oct. 13. He fills the role vacated by former CAO John Enns-Wind earlier this year.

Mayor Ames Leslie made the announcement of the hire at Monday’s council meeting; Leslie also took the opportunity to thank acting CAO David Gillan for his time with the town.

Gillan has already resigned as the town’s finance director, having officially thrown his hat into the ring to run for mayor of North Battleford.
