NORTH BATTLEFORD — City council in North Battleford has given its approval to a new cellular tower in the city’s southeast.

Council voted in favour of the discretionary use request by SaskTel to purchase from the city 300 square metres of land for $14,500 for the development of a cellular tower to be located behind the CUplex, in Yellow Sky neighbourhood.

SaskTel is also to cover all the applicable legal, subdivision and associated costs respecting the sale.

Assistant Director of Corporate Services Ryan Mackrell said a number of sites were considered but this location near the CUplex was seen as most suitable. Engineering tests were conducted at the site, the parcel of land is located in the utility corridor of the future neighbourhood, and the parcel isn’t serviced or in need of servicing.

There were no objections received from the public regarding the tower.
