NIPAWIN — Construction has begun in Nipawin on a new wine, spirits and beer store connected to the Nipawin co-op food store.

According to Keisha Mohr, marketing and community relations with Lake Country Co-op, the project is a $2 million investment.

“It is an investment in the community that adds jobs, enhances members shopping experience, and contributes to the long-term sustainability of the co-op,” Mohr said.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for the Nipawin area and we are proud to build and give back to ensure the community continues to thrive.”

The new 5,400 square feet store will include a growler bar, tasting bar and walk-in beer cooler. It will also offer premium and local products while offering the potential for equity and cashback on purchases.

A pre-existing liquor license was purchased from a Nipawin retailer looking to exit the marketplace.

Construction is planned to be completed by mid-summer 2021.

This new location is expected to provide 15 new jobs in the community.
