NIPAWIN — Started in 1928, the Nipawin Exhibition is having its 90th anniversary.

The exhibition includes a petting zoo, games of chance and rides.

“We have decided to reinstate the outside grandstand area, so there will be entertainment outside on an open stage starting at one o’clock all three days, and having a feature band each night,” said Debra Lacheur, president of the Nipawin Exhibition Association. “So there’s going to be lots of entertainment, which is totally new.”

The association hopes to keep these changes in the years to come.

“Last year we didn’t have any grandstand entertainment at all and for quite a number of years prior to that there had just been something in the evening and the arena.”

The exhibition runs from July 16 to 18. The day before, July 15, there will be a parade starting at 3 p.m.

The first event of each day starts with the light horse show at 8 a.m. and ends with a Pot of Gold Draw at 8:30 p.m.

There will also be a trade show and an exhibit hall for all three days of the exhibition

“We should be very thankful for the people that worked so very hard 90 years ago and leading up to today – to make that a viable thing every year,” Lacheur said, “and hopefully to continue for 90 more.”
