An extra $1 paid in addition to a $2 Western 649 ticket was a good investment for a Nipawin resident.
Norma Thomas brought her ticket at the Nipawin Domo Gas & C-Store for the Nov. 11 draw. She won the $100,000 EXTRA.
She discovered her win a couple of days later when she stopped at a grocery store with her daughter. While Thomas waited in the vehicle, her daughter checked the ticket inside. But she came right back out to get her mom.
“She said, ‘You need to come in. You won $100,000.’” Thomas said.“I was stunned. I didn’t think ordinary people like me won.”
The winning EXTRA number on Nov. 11 were 6073546. Thomas' selection exactly matched the last six digits, netting the game’s $100,000 second prize.
The winner said she plans to share some of her windfall with her family, along with making some home renovations. She’s also thinking of taking a trip to British Columbia.
