A recent five-year plan laid out by Canada Post to protect postal service in a world in which digital communication is replacing traditional mail will not mean changes for the Battleford Post Office.
Monday evening at their regular meeting, councillors reviewed information received at Town Hall from Marnie Armstrong, director of municipal engagement, stating at this point in time, Canada Post has no plans to change the operation of the Battleford Post Office.
Armstrong's email comment was made in response to Town Administrator Sheryl Ballendine's message that residents of Battleford have been asking whether any of the changes to Canada Post could be affecting their post office, even though the changes announced were to do with phasing out home delivery.
Mayor Derek Mahon noted the post office is one of the busiest places in town.
