North West College in conjunction with the North West Career Development Partnership is hosting its fifth annual Try-a-Trade Interactive Career Expo to highlight the trades as potential career options and information on apprenticeships for youth and adult learners.
Try-a-Trade Interactive Career Expo will be held Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at the NationsWEST Field House in North Battleford.
Try-a-Trade promotes careers in the trades industry with hands-on activities at each booth to demonstrate the trades that they represent to youth, parents, and job-seekers.
The event will host 34 exhibitors in 44 booths that will be showcasing trades from construction to hairdressing. An anticipated 1,400 students from schools within the northwest region have registered to attend Try-a-Trade. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
“For five years, we’ve had great support from businesses to promote the trades,” says Melanie Roberts, Director of Programs. “Without their interest, participation and interactive booths, this career exploration for youth would not be possible. There are so many opportunities for a career in the trades.”

North West College offers adult learning opportunities at campuses in North Battleford and Meadow Lake. North West College offers post-secondary education programming in university, trades, business, health care, and community services. Adult Basic Education, English as an Additional Language, safety/industry training, and general interest courses are also offered at North West College.
