Motorists heading northbound on 100th Street Wednesday will be facing a detour at 19th Avenue, says Joe Gagne, the City of North Battleford's water and sewer operations foreman.
Crews will be digging up a leaking valve at 20th Avenue and 100th Street. Southbound traffic will not be affected.
During this work, Mr. Gagne considers it very likely water service will have to be shut off to businesses in the 1900 block of 100th Street.
Businesses in that area are being advised to collect water in containers in anticipation of a break in water services. During the repair, businesses will be able to use water as they normally would while it is still flowing.
Should the water be shut down, businesses should let the water flow for about an hour once the service resumes and then run a tap for 15 minutes to flush out any dirty water from their systems. Inside taps should be run until the water runs clear and the toilets should be flushed a couple of times to help clear the system. Aerators on the taps should be removed and cleared of any dirt.
There is a possibility a drinking water advisory may be issued if there is a water disturbance.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but the repair is necessary and will be completed as soon as possible," said Mr. Gagne.
