Battlefords RCMP detachment has released the November crime numbers for North Battleford, and they could be better.

Many categories stayed pretty much the same as they were before, while there was a jump in property and persons crimes.

S. Sgt. Phil Wilson provided the statistical report to Monday's municipal services meeting and said the report was "not quite as glowing as the past ones have been."

Persons offences in November were up to 84, compared to 44 for the same month in 2011. Property offences were up to 160 last month, compared to 148 the previous November.

In other November numbers, business break and enters hit zero in November compared to three the year before; residential break and enters were down from six to five, criminal code offences down from 125 to 122, drug offences down from 36 to 17, liquor act offences down from 20 to 16, provincial traffic offences down from 135 to 72 and impaired operation of a motor vehicle down from 23 to 21.

Wilson told council the person offences and property offence categories "brought our stats more in line with last year's." While he wouldn't characterize the report as "unfavorable," it was "perhaps not as favorable as last month's was."

For the year through November, person offences remain down five per cent, business break and enters down 24 per cent, residential break and enters relatively unchanged down .04 per cent, property offences down five per cent, criminal code offences down five per cent, liquor act offences down 23 per cent and impaired operation of motor vehicles down six per cent.

Up for the year have been drug offences by 56 per cent and provincial traffic offences by 14 per cent. Wilson has previously cited greater enforcement and more tips from the public for higher numbers in those categories.

Calls for service in 2012 are now up to 14,066, compared to 14,375 the year before. Eighteen foot patrols were recorded in November bringing the total for the year to 226.

The final report reflecting the December statistics as well as the final statistics for 2012 is expected to be presented at city hall in January.
